March 1, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Ihar Sierhiejenka, chairman of the National Assembly’s House of Representatives, has expressed condolences to his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in connection with the death of Iran\u2019s longtime ruler Ali Khamenei, the lower house’s Telegram channel reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBelarusian MPs are deeply shocked by the tragic news of numerous civilian casualties and destruction in Iran,\u201d the message reads. \u201cWe reaffirm our principled position against any aggressive actions and call for the prevention of further escalation of the conflict and violence.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sierhiejenka expressed hope for \u201cthe speedy resolution of the military conflict by peaceful means and the normalization of the situation in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, Iranian authorities confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran. He reportedly died at his residence during the United States and Israeli strikes on February 28. The Ayatollah’s daughter, son-in-law, grandson and one of his daughters-in-law were also killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the Belarusian foreign ministry stated its concerns over \u201cescalation of the situation between Israel and Iran, which has also affected friendly Gulf countries.\u201d The ministry and Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka have not commented on Khamenei\u2019s death yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military actions in the Middle East intensified on February 28 amid stalled negotiations over Iran\u2019s nuclear program, as Washington pressed Tehran to curb its nuclear activities and address concerns over its enrichment and uranium stockpile, while Iranian officials maintained they would not accept US demands without significant concessions on sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe heavy and pinpoint bombing\u201d of Iran will \u201ccontinue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary,\u201d US President Donald Trump has said on Truth Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
