March 2, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has sent his condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in connection with the death of Iran\u2019s longtime ruler Ali Khamenei, the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Deputy Foreign Minister Siarhiej \u0141uka\u0161evi\u010d conveyed the message to Iranian ambassador to Belarus Alireza Sanei more than 24 hours after reports of Khamenei\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khamenei died at his residence during the United States and Israeli strikes on February 28. The Ayatollah\u2019s daughter, son-in-law, grandson and one of his daughters-in-law were also killed. Today, reports said that Khamenei’s wife also died from her injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBelarus received with deep pain and sorrow the tragic news of the death of the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Khamenei, as a result of a treacherous attack,\u201d \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s message reads. \u201cThe memory of Ali Khamenei and his service to his country will remain in the hearts of millions of people, and his life will remain part of Iran’s national heritage and an important page in world history.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to Iran. Leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan also sent condolences in connection with Khamenei’s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military actions in the Middle East intensified on February 28 amid stalled negotiations over Iran\u2019s nuclear program, as Washington pressed Tehran to curb its nuclear activities and address concerns over its enrichment and uranium stockpile, while Iranian officials maintained they would not accept US demands without significant concessions on sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
