March 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Minsk plans to increase exports of goods and services to African countries to $1.5 billion by 2030, according to the government’s roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, authorities have not disclosed current figures on total trade in goods and services with the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plan aims to consolidate Belarus’ position in Africa \u201cas a reliable trade and economic partner with modern and competitive goods, services, technologies and competencies,\u201d the government\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The principal tasks include developing effective instruments to promote Belarus\u2019s interests in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus will reportedly prioritize African countries based on the intensity of cooperation, taking into account the presence of diplomatic missions, the strength of bilateral ties, the economic potential of partner countries and the existence of joint projects under development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said that Belarus must establish footholds to work with African countries of interest to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus currently maintains diplomatic relations with 51 of the 54 African countries and operates embassies in Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Belarusian ambassadors are also accredited on a non-resident basis to 19 countries in Africa and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
