March 18, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian-Russian agreement on the mutual enforcement of court rulings undermines Belarus\u2019 sovereignty by granting Russian law enforcement jurisdiction in Belarus, says<\/a> a recent analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signed in 2024, the agreement enables each state to recognize and enforce the other\u2019s court decisions in both civil and criminal cases without any additional procedures. Belarusian MPs ratified the deal in May 2025, while the Russian State Duma\u2019s ratification followed yesterday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISW described the agreement as a sign of \u201calarming progress in the Kremlin\u2019s effort to annex Belarus\u201d and \u201cimplicitly subjecting Belarusians to Russian civil and criminal law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysts saw the development as a part of Russia\u2019s decades-long strategic effort to use the Union State framework to de facto annex Belarus.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
