March 21, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Kyiv\u2019s shift toward increased engagement with Belarusian pro-democracy forces demonstrates Ukraine\u2019s strong position, signalling to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka that Ukrainians no longer fear him, Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja told eurointegration.com.ua<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These contacts are crucial to \u201cprevent the lifting of sanctions on \u0141uka\u0161enka and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician described her upcoming visit to Kyiv as a strong signal to Belarusians that “Ukraine supports a free Belarus, that \u0141uka\u0161enka is a war criminal and that Belarusians and Ukrainians stand together against Russian imperialism.\u201d She added that her visit would also focus on practical aspects, including the opening of the pro-democracy forces\u2019 office in Ukraine and discussions on the status of Belarusians in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja expressed hope to mark the Belarusian Freedom Day, celebrated on March 25, in Ukraine. \u201cWe are currently waiting for confirmation from the Ukrainian side regarding the dates, and we are also negotiating the details,\u201d she said. \u201cThere are many issues to address, including logistics and security. Of course, I don\u2019t want to come empty-handed \u2014 I want to bring aid for the volunteers. Supporting Ukraine is very important to me right now, because the fate of Belarus depends on the fate of Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in support of a free Belarus inspires Belarusians, she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja and Zelensky held their first bilateral meeting in Vilnius on January 25.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
