However, agriculture and rising consumption continue to support economic growth, with a projected recovery in construction and sustained consumer demand expected to bolster GDP growth, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus\u2019 industrial production contracted by 3.7 percent in January-February, while the stockpiles of unsold industrial goods rose by nearly 18 percent year on year. Housing construction plunged 34.3 percent in this period, while retail trade rose by 1.6 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarus\u2019 GDP growth has been losing momentum throughout 2025. The 1.3-percent increase reported last year fell short of the targeted 4.1-percent expansion. In 2026, the government expects the economy to grow by 2.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Monetary Fund forecast Belarus\u2019 economic growth at 1.4 percent in 2026, while the Eurasian Development Bank projected 1.8 percent economic growth.
