March 26, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>The Ukrainian government has terminated 23 international treaties with Belarus, 87 within the framework of the Russia-led Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and one trilateral agreement between Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, the Ukrainian foreign ministry reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the move as a major one in severing Kyiv’s “last ties with the so-called CIS.” “It is my firm conviction that Ukraine\u2019s legal framework must correspond to the realities of war and the new security architecture on the European continent,” Ukraine\u2019s top diplomat noted.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv has withdrawn Ukraine from several accords with Belarus after Minsk provided Russia with territory and infrastructure in 2022 to attack Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kyiv denounced agreements with Belarus on cooperation in communications, free trade and the mutual payment of pensions, while Minsk terminated an agreement on the rights of resettled people and their families, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
