April 1, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Dzianis Ku\u010dynski, an aide to Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, plans to meet key United States officials who make decisions regarding Belarus at the White House and the US Department of State, he said in a video from Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician added he came to the US to express gratitude for the release of jailed Belarusian dissidents on March 19. \u201cWe hope that this humanitarian track will continue, and that all political prisoners will be released and the repression will stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian opposition will continue to engage with its American partners, Cichano\u016dskaja said two days ago ahead of Ku\u010dynski\u2019s trip. The opposition leader stressed that the ongoing prisoner releases negotiated by Washington are important, but noted that a complete end to reprisals must be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need full amnesty so that thousands of Belarusians in Poland and Lithuania can safely return home,\u201d she stated in her address to a Belarus-themed roundtable at the Lithuanian Seimas. \u201cWe must insist on this and not encourage the dictator to take new hostages.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 19, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka freed 250 jailed dissidents following his talks with John Coale, US special envoy for Belarus. Later, the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office reported that the US had lifted sanctions on Bie\u0142investbank and the Development Bank of Belarus, the finance ministry, Bie\u0142aruskalij and Belarusian Potash Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
