April 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian army’s readiness to repel any aggression and respond swiftly to threats along the border is \u201cthe only guarantee of peace and national security,\u201d Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has told officials, commenting on a recent comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of the recent exercise that lasted from mid-January to mid-March reflected the seriousness of the geopolitical situation and the threats near Belarus\u2019s borders, he noted. The Belarusian ruler was directly involved in the drill, placing military units on combat alert while bypassing the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want my subordinates to be ready to fight,\u201d Pul Pervogo<\/em>, a Telegram channel linked to \u0141uka\u0161enka quoted him as saying. \u201cIf we\u2019re ready to fight, people will fear us, and no one will dare to come here. That\u2019s my goal. . . We put the [drill] participants in conditions as close as possible to real-world challenges. To be even more precise, to war. Without making allowances for weather, time of day, or other factors that complicate the execution of combat missions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, \u0141uka\u0161enka told journalists that despite some shortcomings, the army remains combat-ready, adding that specific issues would be addressed separately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian army is frequently conducting drills amid tensions with the West and Russia\u2019s full-scale war against Ukraine, in which Minsk supports Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
