April 3, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Polish investigators forwarded to court a criminal case against four Ukrainians and one Belarusian accused of arson attacks on shopping centers and collaboration with Russian intelligence, the Polish National Prosecutor\u2019s Office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation focused on the activities of an organized criminal group that operated in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and other European countries and reportedly carried out acts of sabotage and arson attacks on malls and supermarkets on orders from Russian intelligence services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crimes were committed \u201cto intimidate a wide range of people and, consequently, influence public opinion,\u201d the Polish prosecutors said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The indictment covers acts of sabotage in 2024, including the arson of an OBI home improvement store in Warsaw, an IKEA store in Vilnius, the Marywilska 44 shopping center in Warsaw and preparations to set fire to an IKEA store in Riga, Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian \u015aciapan K. was charged with one count of arson of the OBI store in Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, a wave of arson attacks swept through Poland and other Eastern European countries. Some politicians speculated that these were Russia-sponsored acts of sabotage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
