April 3, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Local authorities in Mahilo\u016d have dismissed reports of explosions in one of the city’s districts as \u201cfake news,\u201d denying any emergencies or drone sightings in the city, according to a statement posted in the Mogilev.Online <\/em>Telegram channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dozens of social media posts from Mahilo\u016d residents mentioned explosion-like sounds last night and in the early morning on April 3. People described a sound resembling \u201ca fighter jet breaking the sound barrier,\u201d with some reporting rattling windows and vibrations felt by drivers in their vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drones have been regularly spotted over Belarus as Russia continues attacking Ukraine. On the night of March 23, reports of a drone passing overhead came from the Mahilo\u016d region, followed by the Minsk and Hrodna regions. A drone carrying explosives later crashed on a frozen lake in Lithuania\u2019s Var\u0117na district bordering Belarus and was confirmed as a Ukrainian UAV that had strayed off course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Russian drone crashed into a vegetable garden on March 24 in a village of the \u0141oje\u016d district in Belarus\u2019 Homiel region near the Ukrainian border, but did not explode, Flagshtok<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian troops regularly use aircraft and surface-to-air missile systems to destroy drones that enter the country\u2019s airspace, according to Andrej \u0141ukjanovi\u010d, commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarusian authorities regularly tested the public warning system, particularly in the southern part of the country, which faces frequent incursions by Russian drones targeting Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Minsk supported the Kremlin by allowing Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarusian territory on multiple occasions and by supplying arms to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
