April 8, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah, ambassador of Ghana to Belarus, also accredited in Russia, has presented copies of his credentials to Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d, the foreign ministry\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sides discussed preparations and the agenda for the upcoming visit of Ghana\u2019s President John Dramani Mahama to Belarus later this year, as well as plans for joint political and economic events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomats identified industrial cooperation, agriculture and education as key areas of cooperation, reaffirming commitment to mutual support within international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d met Ghana\u2019s Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Accra last month. During his visit, the Belarusian official focused on expanding ties in agriculture, securing export loans and setting up an intergovernmental commission to boost trade and economic cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus and Ghana have roughly the same area, but Ghana has a much larger population \u2014 35.7 million compared with 9.1 million in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two countries have roughly similar GDP levels; therefore, Belarus\u2019 GDP per capita at purchasing power parity is much higher \u2014 about $32,000\u2013$34,000 compared with roughly $7,000\u2013$8,000 in Ghana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
