April 20, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/strong>.<\/em> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said that he does not consider himself a dictator in his interview with Moscow-controlled Russia Today<\/em> last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler’s press office has been releasing excerpts over the past few days of his comments on international developments, Minsk\u2019s engagement with Washington and US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka claimed he does not concern himself with public approval in the same way as other global leaders. \u201cI am not an emperor like US President Donald Trump or Russian President Vladimir Putin,\u201d he said. \u201cThey can afford to worry about being loved. I don\u2019t have the same opportunities they do. That\u2019s why I remain calm about whether I\u2019m liked, especially after so many years in power. I\u2019m an experienced man. I\u2019ve seen all the mud they throw at me \u2014 \u2018dictator\u2019 and so on \u2014 and I take it in my stride,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka also argued that he lacks the means to behave like a dictator, contrasting himself with the US. \u201cTrump has them, those resources. And he dictates: in Venezuela, in Cuba. . .  he tries to dictate in Iran, to China, well, to dictate something to all countries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dictatorships always lead to setbacks similar to those that happened to the US with Iran, the politician noted. \u201cIf you\u2019re a dictator, you have to be cautious. You have to use your brain more often and keep your head on your shoulders,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
