April 22, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Only the Brest region and Minsk reported regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in Q1, according to the National Statistical Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, Minsk\u2019s economy grew by 0.7 percent year on year and the Brest region posted growth of 1.4 percent. The Viciebsk region contracted by 1.8 percent; the Mahilo\u016d region, by 2.9 percent; the Minsk region, by 1.5 percent; the Homiel region, by 0.5 percent; and the Hrodna region, by 1.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk and the Minsk region accounted for 33.5 and 17.5 percent of Belarus\u2019 GDP, respectively, followed by the Brest region with 11.4 percent, Homiel region with 11.1 percent, the Hrodna region with 10.2 percent, the Viciebsk region with 8.4 percent and the Mahilo\u016d region with 7.5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Bie\u0142stat, Belarus\u2019 GDP contracted by 0.4 percent year on year in Q1 after a 1.3-percent increase in 2025. The government projects the economy to grow by 2.8 percent in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
