{"id":184611,"date":"2026-04-23T11:12:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/184611\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T11:13:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T08:13:30","slug":"belarus-puts-six-more-exiled-activists-on-trial-in-their-absence","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/184611\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus puts six more exiled activists on trial in their absence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>April<\/strong><strong> 23, <\/strong><strong><em>Pozirk<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><strong> <\/strong>Politically motivated trials were reported across Belarus between April 18 and 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s the recap of developments in these four days that rights defenders flagged as instances of political persecution:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An extremism trial opened on April 22 against Andrej Ba\u0142mako\u016d, Ja\u016dhien Ta\u010dycki, Kaciaryna Astrova and Antanina Najdovi\u010d without the defendants being present, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Another extremism trial opened at the Homiel Regional Court against Stanis\u0142a\u016d Pryhodzi\u010d, who also faces charges of inciting social hatred, insulting the head of state and discrediting Belarus. He was also put on trial in his absence, Viasna reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Political analyst D\u017amytryj Ba\u0142kuniec is to be put on trial at the Minsk City Court in his absence on May 15. He is accused of conspiracy to seize power and other serious crimes, Viasna reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Supreme Court on June 2 is scheduled to hear appeals from civil society activists convicted in their absence on January 22.
