May 4, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarus\u2019 opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja is in Yerevan, Armenia, to attend the European Political Community Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has already met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Romanian President Nicusor Dan, according to her X posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja will take part in the summit\u2019s events \u201cas an invited Belarus guest,\u201d the politician\u2019s press office said. Among other things, she will participate in a conference called Yerevan Dialogue 2026, organized by the Armenian foreign ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe host of the summit is Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia,\u201d press office said. \u201cPresident of France Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Ant\u00f3nio Costa, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni and many other leaders have also arrived in Yerevan. For the first time, the Prime Minister of Canada will take part in the summit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the fifth European Political Community Summit where Cichano\u016dskaja will represent Belarus but the first one in Yerevan. She has never visited Armenia before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLadies and gentlemen, today I am in Yerevan at the European Political Community Summit together with more than 40 European leaders \u2014 presidents, prime ministers, heads of state,\u201d Cichano\u016dskaja said in a video post. \u201cAnd for me it is a great honor to represent Belarus and the Belarusian people. I am here to speak about Belarus, about the fact that the Belarusians are not the regime, that Belarus is not Russia. And that we are part of Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja noted that she will use the summit to raise issues relating to Belarus\u2019 security and independence, support for Ukraine, and the \u201cneed to preserve European unity.\u201d She stressed that \u201cwe should not only isolate the regime but also support the Belarusian people.\u201d \u201cSeparately, I will speak about the liberation of political prisoners \u2014 this is our top priority,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd about the next steps \u2014 how to strengthen Belarus\u2019 independence and ensure accountability for the regime\u2019s crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Cichano\u016dskaja, her objective is to \u201ckeep Belarus at the center of international attention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
