May 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has appointed Rus\u0142an Parchamovi\u010d as the new head of the Homiel City Executive Committee, the politician\u2019s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parchamovi\u010d, 45, had served as the Belarusian ruler\u2019s aide for the Homiel region for about a year following a three-year tenure as minister of architecture and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka praised the new head of Homiel for his \u201cextensive experience,\u201d the state-run media report. \u201cHe has a great deal of experience\u00a0\u2013 a great deal, in fact\u00a0\u2013 as a member of the government, and he has had to work with personnel. I think this will be a great help to Ivan Ivanavi\u010d [Krupko, chairman of the Homiel Regional Executive Committee],\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn Homiel and throughout the region, people are generally nice. That\u2019s why it\u2019s possible to work there,\u201d Pul Pervogo<\/em>, \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s press office’s unofficial Telegram channel also quoted him as saying. \u201cI really hope that with the arrival of Homiel\u2019s new mayor, things will take a turn for the better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parchamovi\u010d is replacing U\u0142adzimir Pryva\u0142a\u016d, who came under media scrutiny following a gas explosion at an apartment building in Homiel last December. The blast caused the floor slabs from the eighth to the sixth floors to collapse and damaged the building\u2019s exterior wall panels. Some residents were evacuated, and one woman died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, \u0141uka\u0161enka also appointed Alaksandar Vieramieje\u016d as head of the Homiel region\u2019s Mazyr district and Alaksandar Sakovi\u010d as CEO of the Belarusian Steel Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
