This means that she is viewed primarily as a representative of an \u201calternative political center and not the formal state leader,\u201d the authors say.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian people are commonly portrayed as simultaneously victims of the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime and supporters of Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, Belarus is mainly covered in connection with its role in Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine and the Kremlin\u2019s policy, with a focus on security and geopolitics, the survey says, describing this picture as simplistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More reports covering the liberation of political prisoners and discussing prospects for warmer relations with the West are the first weak signals of a \u201cshift in the diplomatic dynamic around Belarus,\u201d the survey says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sports, and in particular, the career of Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, are one of the few subjects that draws foreign media attention to Belarus without a focus on politics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 13, Pozirk.
