May 26, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Lithuanian border guards rounded up and \u201creturned to Belarus\u201d yesterday 36 men and two women who crossed into the country through a tunnel, the country\u2019s State Border Guard Service reported on May 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirty-six people said they were nationals of Afghanistan, although only 23 had IDs, and two said they were Iranians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania reported similar incidents on April 6 and May 6, accusing Belarusian authorities of allowing migrants to dig tunnels under the border fence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Lithuania registered 766 attempts by undocumented migrants to cross the border from Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka has repeatedly said that his security forces will not prevent migrants from traveling through Belarus to the European Union, accusing the bloc of imposing unfair sanctions on his country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
