May 26, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus\u2019 opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja said at a summit of cities and regions in Kyiv on May 26 that Belarus can and must provide Ukraine with strong security guarantees in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese are guarantees that Belarus will never again be used as a staging ground for aggression,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also said she is confident that Ukraine will win the war against Russia, adding that Kyiv is already acting from the position of strength. \u201cThe only question is when this will happen. It depends on how much we all do to bring this moment closer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja also described Ukraine as a regional leader. \u201cI believe that Ukraine will help us dismantle the dictatorship and then rebuild our country after years of authoritarianism,\u201d she said, promising that Belarusians would help rebuild Ukraine as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The international summit of cities and regions, \u201cPartnership. Sustainability. Readiness,\u201d was organized under the patronage of the Ukrainian president to coordinate efforts to restore and strengthen security at the local and regional levels. The first summit was held in Kyiv in April 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zelensky said this year\u2019s summit brought together participants from 24 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
