May 26, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d, state secretary of Belarus\u2019 Security Council, accused Ukraine of conducting active electronic reconnaissance of Belarusian territory during a meeting with his counterparts from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow on May 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that Ukraine has been fortifying and mining border areas and conducting exercises involving attack drones, as well as drills simulating the storming and seizure of buildings at training grounds near the border. He also claimed that Ukrainian drones frequently cross the border and crash in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn some cases, these are not accidental incidents, but attempts to strike border infrastructure under the pretext of accidental incursions,\u201d he said, as quoted by state media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that Belarus registered 116 drone incursions last week and employed air defense assets 59 times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d also said that Ukrainians frequently cross into Belarus to evade military conscription. \u201cIn the last month, 76 such intruders were apprehended. Some of them were spies on specific missions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, participants in the meeting agreed that the border with Afghanistan is no longer the CSTO\u2019s most tense area and that tensions are now higher along the bloc\u2019s western borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on May 21 that his country would strengthen security along the border with Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have the capability to strengthen [security], and we also have the capability to act preventively both against Russian territories, from which threats may emerge, and against the de facto leadership of Belarus, which must remain on alert \u2014 that is, it must clearly understand that there will be consequences for aggressive actions against Ukraine and our people,\u201d Zelensky said in Slavutych during a visit to the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions bordering Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CSTO is a military-political alliance whose stated goals are to strengthen peace, international and regional security, and stability, as well as to protect the independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty of its member states. Its members are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
