May 30, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Ukrainian policies toward Belarus are becoming coherent, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha told the Verkhovna Rada yesterday, following last week\u2019s visit of Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have someone to talk to,\u201d he said later in a Facebook post, adding that earlier this month, the Ukrainian foreign ministry appointed a special envoy for relations with Belarus\u2019 pro-democracy forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat also noted Ukraine\u2019s \u201casymmetrical move\u201d regarding Belarus by inviting Cichano\u016dsksja after Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka \u201cmade a rather strange proposal for contacts at the leadership level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such diplomacy focuses on \u201cturning crises into opportunities,\u201d Sybiha stressed. \u201cWe are undermining Russia\u2019s position in areas where it previously dominated and strengthening Ukraine\u2019s role as a security partner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja visited Ukraine from May 25 to 26, where she met with Volodymyr Zelensky and held talks at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. Discussions focused on regional security and coordination of efforts against Russia and \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
