June 3, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Companies under the authority of the Belarusian State Light Industry Concern (Bie\u0142lehpram) supply their goods to more than 60 countries, with Russia accounting for 91 percent of their exports, the conglomerate\u2019s head, Nadzieja \u0141azarevi\u010d, told reporters on June 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exports by companies controlled by Bie\u0142lehpram increased by 50 percent in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period of the previous year, \u0141azarevi\u010d said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bie\u0142lehpram controls 68 companies, which mainly produce textiles and apparel, she said, adding that its assets also include tanneries and Dobru\u0161 Porcelain Plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general, Belarus\u2019 light industry comprises more than 2,100 companies, which employ over 56,000 people and account for 3.5 percent of the country\u2019s processing industry, \u0141azarevi\u010d said. Bie\u0142lehpram\u2019s companies employ about half of the industry\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141azarevi\u010d admitted that average pay in the industry is low, less than 2,000 rubels ($700) in the first quarter of 2026 against more than 2,800 rubels ($980) in Belarus in general, and that the industry has unprofitable enterprises, notably flagship footwear maker Bie\u0142viest and cotton textile producer Svitanak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the National Statistics Committee (Bie\u0142stat), Belarusian light industry companies exported their goods to \u201cmore than 90 countries\u201d in 2022, 77 countries in 2023 and 73 countries in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
