June 3, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong> <\/em>Nicolas Lerner, head of France\u2019s Directorate-General for External Security, visited Minsk last week at the request of French President Emmanuel Macron, a source who wished to remain anonymous told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Telegram channel of exiled Belarusian politician Varelyj Capka\u0142a also reported on the visit, noting that it focused on regional security, Belarus’ non-nuclear status and inadmissibility of Minsk\u2019s involvement in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official reportedly reiterated France\u2019s position regarding serious political, economic and international consequences should Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka decide to join Russia\u2019s war or provide the Belarusian territory for the use of nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lerner has already briefed Macron on the meeting, Capka\u0142a said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 29, \u0141uka\u0161enka announced that a French representative would visit Minsk on June 1 or 2 for talks, following his phone talks with Macron on May 24. However, the visit took place earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

France and the European Union do not recognize \u0141uka\u0161enka as Belarus\u2019 legitimate president. Belarus has designated France an unfriendly state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
