{"id":190495,"date":"2026-06-04T12:08:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T09:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/190495\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T12:58:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T09:58:36","slug":"latvia-reports-32-month-high-in-irregular-crossings-via-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/190495\/","title":{"rendered":"Latvia reports 32-month high in irregular crossings via Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>June 4, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Latvia did not allow 171 undocumented third-country foreigners to enter its territory from Belarus on June 3, more than on any other day since October 1, 2023 when 220 attempted crossings were reported, according to <em>Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of border guards\u2019 data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Latvian border guards reportedly thwarted as many as 170 attempts at irregular border crossing on May 16 this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were 293 crossing attempts between June 1 and June 3, compared with 131 between May 1 and May 3, 2026, and 256 between June 1 and June 3, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of irregular crossings into the European Union via the Belarus\u2013Latvia border has increased steadily month by month in 2026, reaching 1,700 in April. The upward trend continued in May as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lithuania has not recorded any attempts for the past four days.
