June 12, Pozirk<\/em><\/strong>. Road repairs at the Bieniakoni-\u0160al\u010dininkai checkpoint on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border are expected to be completed by June 30, the press office of the Belarusian State Border Committee reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement has been released after earlier today the agency announced that scheduled repairs at Bieniakoni would last only two days, on June 12 and 13. Customs authorities warned that the works could cause delays for vehicles crossing the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up to 390 passenger cars and 250 trucks can cross into Lithuania per day in one direction at the Bieniakoni crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, only two checkpoints, Bieniakoni-\u0160al\u010dininkai and Kamienny \u0141oh-Medininkai, handle all cross-border traffic between Belarus and Lithuania. Vilnius closed \u0160umskas and Tvere\u010dius crossings in 2023 and Lavori\u0161k\u0117s and Raigardas in 2024, citing national security and smuggling among the reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late 2025, tensions between Belarus and Lithuania over cigarette-smuggling balloons forced Lithuanian authorities to close crossings in \u0160al\u010dininkai and Medininkai\u00a0for three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
