June 14, Pozirk. <\/strong>The office of Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja suspended cooperation with volunteer analyst Alina Charysava after discovering that the woman was lured into maintaining contact with the Belarusian security forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial phase of an internal probe found no evidence of a leak of sensitive information, the office said yesterday.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last fall, Charysava ignored security protocols and entered into communication with \u201cunknown individuals who identified themselves as employees of Ukrainian special services,” the statement said. \u201cA review of the analyst\u2019s work and personal devices, accounts and other available materials found no evidence of payments linked to alleged cooperation with third parties,\u201d it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charysava, who is also a member of the opposition Coordination Council, admitted that she has long been the target of persecution and attempts to exert pressure, which is consistent with the well-known practices of the Belarusian security services toward exiled activists. She made this statement after earlier this month, the state-run ONT<\/em> TV channel had accused her of \u201cleaking information\u201d about pro-democracy activists to the Committee for State Security (KGB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s office said the probe is ongoing and pledged to review existing security protocols and conduct additional training for staff, volunteers and experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The office said the incident reflected ongoing efforts by Belarusian security services to target exiled activists through pressure, provocations, digital manipulation and modern technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
