June 19, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarus\u2019 permanent representative to the OSCE, Andrej Dapkiunas, delivered a tirade at the organization\u2019s conference in Vienna, lamenting the West\u2019s calls for a \u201cjust peace\u201d in Ukraine, mocking \u201cfantasies\u201d about Russia\u2019s defeat and invoking the risks of a conflict with a \u201cnuclear superpower.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the Annual Security Review Conference on June 18, Dapkiunas described \u201cjust peace\u201d as \u201cempty, meaningless words,\u201d noting that this precondition \u201ckills the possibility\u201d of a peaceful settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also ruled out Russia\u2019s defeat in its war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are sad to hear about your futile hopes for the exhaustion and defeat of Russia, to hear absurd fantasies about reparations and tribunals,\u201d Dapkiunas said. \u201cDo you seriously believe in the reality of victory in a proxy war against a nuclear superpower? You are simply playing with matches around a barrel of gasoline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dapkiunas urged his \u201cesteemed Western colleagues\u201d to \u201cgive serious thought\u201d to the dangers of \u201ca military conflict involving nuclear states,\u201d which he said may \u201cbecome inevitable\u201d if the West continues to pursue a \u201cthoughtless war of attrition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus supports Russia in the full-scale war against Ukraine unleashed by Moscow in February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
