June 22, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Domestic demand, along with a recovery in investment activities, will enable Belarus to grow by 1.3 percent in 2026, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in its recent report, lowering its previous forecast from 1.8-percent growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consumer demand remained the primary driver in January\u2013May, analysts said, pointing to an acceleration in retail sales growth to 7.1 percent in May from 6.2 percent in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A recovery in construction reversed a decline in companies\u2019 capital expenditures, resulting in an increase of 1.5 percent in the first five months of 2026, whereas a 0.6-percent decline was reported in January\u2013April, they noted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 GDP grew by 0.9 percent in January-May. Last year, the economy grew by 1.3 percent, falling short of the government\u2019s targeted 4.1-percent expansion. This year, officials expect the economy to grow by 2.8 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
