June 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> From June 20 to 22, sources in Belarus reported more instances of politically-motivated persecution linked to online activities and alleged insults of officials, along with new additions to the official \u201cterrorist\u201d list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below is Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> recap of what was reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         A Minsk university employee was jailed for 15 days over a Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> screenshot on his smartphone, the Viasna Human Rights Center said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         Prosecutors forwarded to court a criminal case against a 42-year-old Minsk resident accused of insulting Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and other officials in online comments dating back to 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         The Committee for State Security (KGB) added 20 people to its register of persons \u201cinvolved in terrorist activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         Authorities put up for auction a vehicle seized from Vital Cynkiel, a former designated political prisoner pardoned earlier this year, according to e-auction.by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         At least 31 persons were convicted in Belarus for exposing identities of officials suspected of involvement in politically-motivated persecution of regime critics, Viasna said. At least 21 are still reportedly held behind bars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022         As of June 23, human rights defenders identified at least 841 political prisoners, but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
