June 23, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The opposition\u2019s fourth Coordination Council (CC) has urged Belarusians to avoid travel to Russia, especially to regions near the combat zones, says a statement released yesterday in connection with a recent deadly drone attack on a Belarusian bus in Russia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirty-nine of the 52 Council\u2019s members who participated in the vote supported the appeal, with three votes against and 10 abstained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe war launched by the Russian leadership against Ukraine poses serious security risks to all people on Russian territory, regardless of their citizenship,\u201d it stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Council expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victim and those injured in the attack, calling on \u201call parties to the armed conflict to strictly observe the norms of international humanitarian law,\u201d protect civilians and avoid actions that could lead to the death or injury of civilians, especially children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s regime is responsible for the incident as it \u201ccontinues to organize and encourage trips by Belarusian children to the territory of a state that is waging a full-scale war and is regularly subjected to attacks in connection with that war,\u201d the document noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBelarusian children must not become hostages to war, propaganda, or irresponsible political decisions. Their safety must be an unconditional priority,\u201d yet the Belarusian authorities are knowingly exposing their lives and health to additional risks, it reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 17, a Belarusian tour bus carrying 44 passengers, including 28 minors enrolled in a soccer program, was hit by a drone in Russia. Viktoryja Haro\u0161ka, the wife of a coach from the Re\u010dyca sports school for children, was killed and six other people, including five children, were wounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While warning against drawing premature conclusions, \u0141uka\u0161enka blamed the strike on a Ukrainian drone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine denied involvement, stating that Ukrainian forces did not use unmanned aerial vehicles against targets in Russia\u2019s Bryansk province on the day the bus was hit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
