June 25, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Belarusian foreign ministry has said it had handed a note to Ukraine\u2019s charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires ad interim, Ivan Novitsky, proposing seasonal border crossings for residents to gather wild plants in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian diplomats stressed that the move \u201cis not a political gesture\u201d but a \u201crational, practical proposal in the interests of ordinary people living in the border region,\u201d describing forests as an important resource for local households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk said it was proposing a well-established mechanism that would allow residents to maintain their traditional way of life without artificial barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier today, the Belarusian State Border Committee said that border guards are ready to let Ukrainians into Belarusian forests in the Stolin district of the Brest region to pick mushrooms and berries, but Kyiv objected to the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
