July 15, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarus posted the fastest growth in passenger traffic and agricultural output among the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) members in January-May, according to Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> analysis of the data from the Eurasian Economic Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passenger traffic rose by 0.8 percent within the EAEU and by 7.8 percent in Belarus, followed by Armenia with 6.1 percent and Kazakhstan with 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agricultural output across the bloc increased by 0.9 percent. Belarus\u2019 growth was at 4.3 percent. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were also in the top three with by 3.7 percent and 3.6 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus ranked second in retail trade growth with 7.1 percent, last in freight traffic with 1.1 percent and was the only EAEU member to post a decrease in industrial output at 1.4 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction dropped by 5.8 percent in the EAEU, with Belarus posting a decrease of 0.4 percent and ranking second. Commissioned housing fell by 17.7 percent in the bloc and 19.5 percent in Belarus, which ranked after Russia that posted the steepest fall of 21.7 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EAEU is an international organization for regional economic integration. Its member states include Belarus and Russia, which are under international sanctions for the assault on Ukraine, as well as Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 185.5 million people, or 2.2 percent of the world\u2019s population, live in these countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EAEU also has free trade agreements with Cuba, Iran, Serbia, Singapore and Vietnam, while Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Mongolia and the United Arab Emirates are negotiating free trade deals. The bloc also has a separate cooperation agreement with China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
