July 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusians ranked ninth among visitors from 15 countries to Georgia in the second quarter of 2026, according to Georgia\u2019s National Tourism Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusians reportedly made 29,316 visits to Georgia between April and June 2026, an increase of 1.5 percent from the same period a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russians topped the list with 380,108 visits, followed by Turks with 287,012 and Armenians with 199,577. They were followed by Israelis, Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs, Ukrainians and Chinese. Belarus ranked ahead of Germany, Poland, Uzbekistan, Iran, the United States and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, Georgia reportedly received 1,564,142 visitors between April and June 2026, or 4.5 percent fewer than in the same period a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georgia has not granted asylum to a single Belarusian under the Georgian Dream government of pro-Russian oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili in recent years. At the same time, Georgia remains visa-free for Belarusians, who can legally stay in the country for up to one year. Many Belarusians moved to Georgia to escape politically motivated persecution following the 2020 post-election protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said that more than 3,700 Belarusians held Georgian residence permits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent months, Georgian migration authorities have intensified their anti-immigration campaign and have been conducting raids to identify undocumented migrants, including door-to-door checks of apartments, with Belarusians among those targeted. Local media and diaspora activists have reported cases of foreigners being deported on what they describe as trumped-up grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja told Pozirk<\/em> in May that it was currently impossible to negotiate with Georgian authorities on recognizing expired Belarusian passports or issuing temporary identification documents to foreigners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
