{"id":197552,"date":"2026-07-28T12:14:32","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/197552\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T12:14:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:14:34","slug":"political-purges-in-belarus-continue-with-new-criminal-convictions-searches","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/197552\/","title":{"rendered":"Political purges in Belarus continue with new criminal convictions, searches"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 28, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Sources in Belarus reported new criminal convictions, searches and other instances of political purges between July 25 and July 27 as the regime continues to persecute its opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is <em>Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> recap:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Environmentalists\u00a0Hleb Hierasimovi\u010d\u00a0and\u00a0Alaksandar Milkamanovi\u010d\u00a0have been sentenced to six years in prison each, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported on Monday.\u00a0They\u00a0were initially charged with facilitating \u201cextremism\u201d but eventually convicted of association with an \u201cextremist organization,\u201d probably over their links to an environmental coalition called Green Network.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pavie\u0142 Mickievi\u010d, founder of Okno na Wsch\u00f3d, a Polish non\u2011profit organization that provides legal, social and integration support to migrants, has been sentenced to five years in prison without him being present at the trial for allegedly facilitating \u201cextremism\u201d and \u201cdiscrediting\u201d Belarus, <em>Nasha Niva<\/em> reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eleven individuals under 18 years of age were convicted in the first half of 2026 for \u201ccrimes against the state,\u201d up from seven in the same period of last year, according to the Supreme Court\u2019s data. In particular, in the first six months, nine legal minors were convicted of facilitating \u201cextremism\u201d, one of calling for sanctions and one of dishonoring state symbols, Viciebskaja Viasna reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Belarusian filmmaker Andrej Kudzinienka fled Belarus after police raided his home and office and took away his passport, warning that he might face between eight and 12 years in prison for \u201cextremism,\u201d his associate Janu\u0161 Ha\u016dryluk wrote on Facebook.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An officer of Belarus\u2019 Committee for State Security (KGB) attempted to recruit Ja\u016dhienija Kur\u0142ovi\u010d of <em>Malanka Media<\/em>, threatening that her family in Belarus would be in trouble if she refuses to cooperate, Kur\u0142ovi\u010d wrote on Instagram.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An apartment seized from Ihar \u0141oban, a former member of exiled resistance group ByPol, has been put up for sale in Hrodna. Earlier, \u0141oban was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State security agencies have launched a fake bot to track down users of <em>Flagshtok<\/em>, an independent media outlet focusing developments in the Homiel region.
