July 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka traveled to Brest today to discuss ways to reverse a decline in the performance of electronics companies run by the Haryzont (Horizont) Managing Holding Company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haryzont’s output fell by 5.6 percent, revenue dropped by 32 percent and the profitability of goods sold declined from 4.6 percent to 3 percent in the first half of the year, according to the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka gave the state-run holding company until the end of the year to present a new strategy for all the enterprises it operates across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also inspected the Brest Electric Bulb Plant, which is run by Haryzont, and criticized its management for launching a modernization effort “only now.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka urged the company to accelerate its shift from producing incandescent light bulbs to manufacturing light-emitting diode (LED) lamps, saying they are an everyday necessity, like “bread.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian leader estimated the annual market in the former Soviet Union at 350 million LED lamps, saying the Brest-based plant should be able to compete with other manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haryzont and its CEO, Juryj Pradko, have been targeted by European Union sanctions for supporting the \u0141uka\u0161enka regime and for their role in designing military equipment used to support Russia\u2019s war of aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As many as 1,917 economic entities operated at a loss in Belarus in the first five months of 2026, or 26 percent more than in the same period of the previous year, according to the National Statistics Committee\u2019s (Bie\u0142stat) data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
