July 30, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Exiled politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, who leads one of the opposition Coordination Council’s (CC) factions, said he submitted information to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw about seven alleged attempts to recruit members of the faction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also reportedly shared this information with the Polish interior and foreign ministries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka urged CC members and other Belarusian pro-democracy groups to report any recruitment attempts in Poland or other countries to local prosecutors. The politician stressed that this information would help law enforcers investigate what he described as a large-scale, extraterritorial campaign by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime targeting Belarusian exiles in Poland and other European Union countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recruitment attempts have become a tool for exerting pressure on Belarusians, including those who have been forced to leave the country. Belarusian security services contact individuals directly, sometimes calling from their parents’ phone numbers, naming family members and demanding an immediate response to offers of cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported that unknown individuals had attempted to contact CC member Mikita Siemianienka. It said several other CC members have also been targeted in recruitment attempts from multiple accounts in recent days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
