August 3, <\/strong>Pozirk<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong> Alaksandar Luka\u0161enka has dismissed Colonel Vital Narkievi\u010d from the position of deputy commander of the Interior Ministry\u2019s Internal Troops for logistics\/chief of logistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office, Narkievi\u010d has been discharged into the reserve, retaining the right to wear military uniform and insignia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was appointed to the position of deputy commander of the Interior Troops in June 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On July 21, Luka\u0161enka dismissed Andrej Burdyka as deputy defense minister for logistics\/chief of logistics of the Armed Forces of Belarus. On May 6, Luka\u0161enka\u2019s press office announced the dismissal of Major General Siarhiej \u0141ahadziuk from the position of deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces\/chief of the main operations directorate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Internal Troops were heavily involved in suppressing mass protests against electoral fraud in 2020 and had been used to disperse peaceful street demonstrations in earlier years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since late 2022, the Internal Troops have been setting up new special-task units trained with the help of mercenaries linked to\u00a0Russia\u2019s Wagner Group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
