August 11, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja has met foreign diplomats in Warsaw to discuss the military and political situation in Belarus as well as support to independent media, her aide Franak Via\u010dorka told Pozirk<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diplomats from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United States attended the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja reportedly focused on the pro-democracy forces\u2019 immediate priorities, including the development of cooperation with Ukraine, as well as the safety of exiled Belarusian activists, journalists and politicians who face transnational repression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, deputy head of the opposition transition cabinet, and Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s aide Dzianis Ku\u010dynski also took part in the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSpecial attention was paid to efforts to release political prisoners,\u201d Via\u010dorka said. \u201cCichano\u016dskaja stressed that we must seize every opportunity to free as many people as possible, while maintaining pressure on the regime to end the repression and secure the release of all political prisoners.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A separate discussion addressed sanctions against companies and individuals that are aiding Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine and contributing to Belarus\u2019 further entanglement in the Russian aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician also lobbied the issue of visas for Belarusians and finding solutions abroad for those who cannot safely return to Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka also held a separate meeting with Yaroslav Chornohor, the Ukrainian foreign ministry\u2019s special envoy for relations with Belarusian pro-democracy forces, to discuss accountability for Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and further steps to strengthen sanctions pressure on Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
