August 21, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus\u2019 state security agencies have been notified that radical groups based in Poland are preparing a \u201chigh-profile provocation\u201d aimed at turning up the heat of political pressure and sanctions on Belarus, Russian propaganda outlet Sputnik<\/em> reported on August 21. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“According to data available to the Belarusian intelligence services, representatives of radical formations located on the territory of Poland, with the support of foreign handlers, are discussing possible options for carrying out a provocation against Belarus,” Sputnik claimed. Its stated goal is the \u201ccreation of an information pretext aimed at further increasing political and sanctions pressure on Belarus.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KGB is reportedly \u201canalyzing and verifying\u201d this information and has transmitted it \u201cthrough established channels to the competent authorities of neighboring states.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sputnik reassured its audience that the situation is \u201cunder the control of the state security agencies” and “necessary measures are being taken to prevent threats to the safety of citizens and the state.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
