August 26, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> As many as 44,923 new passenger cars were sold in Belarus in the first seven months of 2026, with 27,215 of them, or 60.6 percent, made domestically, the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA)said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BelGee, a Belarusian-Chinese company based in Barysa\u016d, Minsk region, alone reportedly sold 24,711 cars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Association, domestic manufacturers, which mostly make fossil-fuel cars, are under pressure from foreign-made electric vehicles. Until December 31, 2028, EVs may be brought into Belarus free of customs duty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BAA board member Siarhiej Varyvoda was quoted as saying that the sale of Russian-imported vehicles and hybrid cars is declining. He predicted that Belarusian manufacturers of conventional vehicles would face the stiffest competition from importers and manufacturers of EVs in the coming years, with their market shares dependent on the government\u2019s subsidy policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
