September 1, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said the \u201cunbreakable friendship and mutual trust\u201d between Minsk and Tashkent help expand bilateral ties as he congratulated Uzbekistan\u2019s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Uzbek people on Independence Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uzbekistan \u201cachieved significant successes in strengthening its sovereignty,\u201d the Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office quoted him as saying. Uzbekistan\u2019s sustainable development, rising living standards and growing international standing demonstrate the effectiveness of its current political course, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mirziyoyev dismissed Rakhmatulla Nazarov, Uzbekistan\u2019s ambassador to Belarus, shortly after he visited Minsk in early July. The Uzbek president reportedly cited Nazarov\u2019s insufficient efforts to promote investment and foreign trade. Ambassador Nuridding Mamazhonov presented copies of his credentials to Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d on July 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While meeting with the Uzbek president, \u0141uka\u0161enka boasted that the two countries had brought bilateral trade to a record high of nearly $1 billion. Mirziyoyev said trade had almost tripled over five years and risen by 30 percent since the start of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the talks in Minsk, \u0141uka\u0161enka revealed that he had invited migrant workers from Uzbekistan to come to Belarus with their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office later said that around 5,000 Uzbek workers are expected to arrive in Belarus\u2019 Viciebsk region to fill jobs in agriculture, construction, industry and the services sector, with some also set to work as nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Belarusians have left Belarus in recent years as its authorities cracked down on political opponents and sided with Russia in its war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
