September 1, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian economy should boldly embrace global trends and perform much more efficiently to meet the annual growth target of three percent, Alaksandar Jahora\u016d, first deputy head of the National Bank of Belarus, said during his show on First News Channel, stressing that \u201csimply increasing output\u201d no longer works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jahora\u016d called for a boarder introduction of artificial intelligence, digital services, automation and biotechnologies and warned against \u201creinventing the wheel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He praised the performance of Belarus\u2019 agricultural sector and farm produce processing industry and its IT sector and expressed confidence that cutting-edge technologies would increase their competitiveness, cut costs and boost sales to both Russia and \u201ccountries of the Global South.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 official statisticians reported that the country\u2019s economic growth reached 2.1 percent in the first seven months of 2026 after contracting in the first three months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the government\u2019s Social and Economic Development Forecast for 2026, the nation\u2019s GDP is expected to grow by 2.8 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Belarus\u2019 economy reportedly grew by 1.3 percent, well below the government\u2019s target of 4.1 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
