September <\/strong>6<\/strong>,<\/strong> <\/strong>Pozirk<\/strong><\/em>.<\/strong> <\/strong>Warsaw has prolonged low-altitude air traffic restrictions in the eastern part of the country along the shared border with Belarus and Ukraine until December 9 at the request of the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restrictions on flights at altitudes of up to three kilometers were introduced following unprecedented Russian drone incursions on September 10, 2025. They covered civil aviation, except for government, medical and emergency flights that are necessary to protect and control critical infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ban, which has been extended every three months, is meant to facilitate the detection of unauthorized flying objects and defense missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the Operational Command emphasized that the restrictions, as before, “do not apply to passenger aircraft operating flights at higher altitudes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At night, a total flight ban is in effect, with exceptions for military aircraft, as well as takeoffs and landings at the Depu\u0142tycze Kr\u00f3lewskie airfield coordinated with the Air Operations Center\/Air Component Command, the statement said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the daytime, the list of exceptions is longer and includes military, government, search and rescue, and medical flights as well as firefighting operations and civil drone flights, provided the drones do not enter the air defense identification zones of Belarus and Ukraine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the night between September 9 and 10, 2025, dozens of Russian military drones violated Polish airspace during a broader aerial attack on Ukraine, prompting NATO to scramble jets and shoot down several of the targets. Minsk surprisingly gave Polish authorities an advance heads-up about the incoming swarm, a move defense analysts described as an attempt to shirk direct accountability while Belarus\u2019 airspace was used for the invasion. Poland subsequently invoked NATO\u2019s Article 4 and implemented strict low-altitude flight restrictions along its eastern borders.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
