September 7, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> An unmanned aerial vehicle was seized from a citizen of Lithuania when he was entering Belarus in a car, Belarus\u2019 State Border Committee reported on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 32-year-old man was crossing through the Hryharo\u016d\u0161\u010dyna checkpoint at the Latvian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian is facing a fine of up to 30 times the Base Rate, or 1,350 rubels ($440).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 4, Belarusian border guards seized a drone from a 32-year-old citizen of Poland when he tried to enter Belarus through the Brest checkpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the State Border Committee, Belarusian border guards have thwarted seven attempts to bring drones into Belarus over the last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities criminalized the unauthorized possession and use of drones under amendments to national regulations signed into law in late October 2025. Unauthorized import, storage, sale, operation, or manufacture of civilian UAVs and model aircraft can now result in criminal prosecution if the offense is committed a second time within one year. The penalty ranges from community service to up to two years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smugglers often use drones to bring Belarusian tobacco products into the neighboring European Union countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
