{"id":202812,"date":"2026-09-08T13:46:38","date_gmt":"2026-09-08T10:46:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/202812\/"},"modified":"2026-09-08T13:46:40","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T10:46:40","slug":"number-of-belarusian-holders-of-lithuanian-residence-permits-falls-below-48000","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/202812\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of Belarusian holders of Lithuanian residence permits falls below 48,000"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>September 8, <em>Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>A total of 47,872 citizens of Belarus held Lithuania\u2019s residence permits on September 1, compared with 48,283 a month before, a decrease of 0.85 percent, according to official data from Lithuania\u2019s migration department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number dropped by 4.8 percent from 50,286 on January 1; by 7.08 percent from 51,520 on September 1, 2025; and by 22.23 percent from 61,556 on September 1, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decrease in August 2026 was partly attributable to the expiration of temporary residence permits, as the number of their holders decreased by 476 to 43,341.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, 65 more Belarusians (4,323) held permanent residence permits in Lithuania on September 1. A total of 127 Belarusians held temporary residence cards in the European Union, while 81 had permanent residence status, with both numbers remaining relatively stable throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of Belarusians holding Lithuanian residence permits on the grounds of employment, family reunification and studies decreased by 367 to 33,203, 28 to 4,583 and 35 to 832, respectively.
