September 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ry\u017eanko\u016d said BRICS members face \u201cincreasing pressure\u201d from those who \u201ccontinue to strive for global dominance,\u201d as he addressed the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey are constantly trying to intimidate us with sanctions, economic, trade and financial restrictions, illegal tariffs and other coercive measures,\u201d the Belarusian foreign ministry quoted him as saying. The official did not specify which countries he meant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ry\u017eanko\u016d praised BRICS as a rapidly growing and increasingly influential platform for the global majority and a force for global unity that is helping shape a more just world order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formed in 2009 as an informal platform to oppose what was called the Western-dominated world order, BRIC originally included Brazil, China, India and Russia, with South Africa joining in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, the list of BRICS members expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka attended the BRICS summit in October 2024 in Kazan, Russia, shortly before Belarus was granted partner status in the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
