September 14, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The United States immigration authorities detained at least 89 Belarusians in January-August, with 60 still held at the immigration detention centers, the ByAction volunteer human rights initiative said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most had no prior violations and were going through a standard immigration process, the activists said. Only six had been convicted of nonviolent crimes, and three of them already had final deportation orders when they were detained. Of the Belarusians detained in the US this year, three have already been deported to Belarus, while three others have agreed to leave voluntarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 16 people were released on bail in 2026, with bail averaging $11,500. The highest amount was $40,000 and the lowest was $4,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About three-quarters of those detained were men, the initiative said, noting that the highest numbers of detentions were recorded in July (23), January (15) and March (13). Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey reportedly accounted for 45 percent of all detentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In New Jersey, some Philadelphia residents were detained after coming for interviews at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, ByAction noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
