September 15, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The Committee for State Security (KGB) has added four individuals to its list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new additions are D\u017amitryj and Ta\u0107ciana Korsaka\u016d, Arciom Mierkiel and Kaciaryna Mankievi\u010d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June 2026, D\u017amitryj and Ta\u0107ciana Korsaka\u016d were sentenced to 14 and 12 years in prison, respectively, on charges of high treason and arms smuggling. Their daughter, who lives in Ukraine, was sentenced to 11 years in prison in her absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mierkiel is serving a prison term for alleged participation in \u201cmass disorder.\u201d His case has not been reported until recently and he is not among recognized political prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mankievi\u010d is a 37-year-old rock singer who currently lives abroad. Her trial began at the Minsk City Court on August 14 without the defendant being present. She was accused of promoting and financing terrorism, facilitating extremism, making violent threats and insulting the head of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On September 11, the interior ministry added Mierkiel and Mankievi\u010d to its list of people it considers \u201cinvolved in extremist activities.\u201d The ministry identified them as convicts serving their sentences. The sentences are unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the official \u201cterrorist\u201d list features 1,475 names, roughly half of them citizens of Belarus, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center. Most of the Belarusians were convicted on charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terrorist designation requires banks to freeze the designated persons\u2019 accounts. The designees cannot conduct any wireless cash transactions through banks and the post office. They cannot receive money transfers in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
