{"id":203900,"date":"2026-09-16T11:39:31","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T08:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/203900\/"},"modified":"2026-09-16T11:39:33","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T08:39:33","slug":"new-extremist-terrorist-designations-reported-in-belarus","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/203900\/","title":{"rendered":"New \u201cextremist,\u201d \u201cterrorist\u201d designations reported in Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>September 16, <em>Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Sources in Belarus reported prison sentences for civil society activists, new additions to the political prisoners\u2019 list along with \u201cextremist\u201d and \u201cterrorist\u201d designations between September 12 and 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is <em>Pozirk\u2019s<\/em> recap of what was reported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Siarhiej Sa\u0142a\u0161 and D\u017amitryj Babicki were sentenced to five years in prison each, apparently for their alleged association with Sk\u0142ad Butelek, a center that hosted cultural and art events in Barysa\u016d, Minsk region, branded \u201cextremist\u201d by authorities, the Viasna Human Rights Center said.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The information ministry branded the Instagram page by Jana \u0141atu\u0161ka, daughter of exiled opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, <em>grodnonovosti44<\/em> and the <em>\u0141askatuchi<\/em> account on Threads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Committee for State Security (KGB) added four individuals to its list of \u201cpersons involved in terrorist activities,\u201d including a couple imprisoned on high treason charges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At least 139 people have been convicted in a \u201cround dance case\u201d that targeted participants in the 2020 postelection protests in Brest, according to Viasna.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Belarusian human rights groups named 11 new political prisoners as repression continued unabated despite Washington-Minsk engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As of September 16, human rights defenders identified at least 912 political prisoners, but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.
